A Nehemiah Mindset: Preparing for Change Together - September 2, 2026
International Christian Host Coalition (ICHC), together with Together In Ministry Int’l (T.I.M.)Pastors and Spiritual Leaders Fueling Station | Advance Church, Washington, D.C.
When Nehemiah learned that Jerusalem’s walls were broken, he did not ignore the damage. He prayed, sought God’s guidance, and called others to join the work of rebuilding. That example shaped the September 2 Pastors and Spiritual Leaders Fueling Station at Advance Church.
Under the theme “Nehemiah Mindset: Prepare for Change,” ICHC and T.I.M. invited spiritual leaders to consider where restoration is needed today. The discussion called for preparedness in difficult times and renewed faithfulness to God’s ways. It also asked believers to look honestly at the divisions that weaken families, churches, and neighborhoods.
Rebuilding begins with recognition. Before a wall can be repaired, its gaps must be seen. In the same way, restoring relationships calls for repentance, reconciliation, and a willingness to work together. Nehemiah faced opposition and distractions, yet he remained focused on the task before him. His example encourages believers to resist bitterness and accusations that pull them away from the work of unity.
The gathering’s prayer expressed a shared commitment to worship, seek God, and strengthen one another for the work ahead. It asked that restoration begin in homes and neighborhoods and that believers remain faithful when the work becomes difficult. Jesus’ prayer for his followers to be united, recorded in John 17:20–23, offered a vision for that commitment.
A Nehemiah mindset invites each of us to ask: What needs rebuilding where I live and serve? The answer may begin with a conversation, an act of reconciliation, or a decision to work alongside someone else. Together, those steps can help restore trust and strengthen our communities.
