International Christian Host Coalition (ICHC) Prayer CallPresenter: Rabbi Eric Teitelman

At its September 25 Prayer Call, the International Christian Host Coalition (ICHC) welcomed Rabbi Eric Teitelman for a study of a challenging biblical theme: the Gentiles provoking Israel to jealousy. His presentation traced the theme from Deuteronomy 32:21 through Romans 10 and 11 and invited participants to consider what these passages ask of Gentile believers today.

The study began with Deuteronomy 32:21, where Israel’s unfaithfulness is met with God’s declaration that He will stir Israel to jealousy through “those who are not a people.” Rabbi Teitelman then turned to Romans 10:19, where Paul quotes that passage while discussing Israel and the response of the nations to the gospel.

In Romans 11:11, Paul asks whether Israel’s stumbling means a final fall. His answer is “Certainly not.” He describes salvation coming to the Gentiles and speaks of it stirring Israel to jealousy. Later, in Romans 11:13–14, Paul connects that purpose to his own ministry among Gentiles.

For ICHC, a central question from the study is how Gentile believers should respond. Paul’s warning in Romans 11:18—“Do not boast over the branches”—calls for humility rather than superiority. The prayer call encouraged participants to study carefully, give thanks for God’s mercy, and let that humility shape their relationships with Jewish people.

ICHC closed in prayer for faith, wisdom, and reconciliation among Jews and Gentiles. The Steering Team invites participants to continue learning and to watch for future opportunities to put that learning into practice.

Dear Lord, guide us in humility, deepen our understanding, and help us pursue reconciliation with faith and care. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
