Back to School in an AI Minefield: A Call for Wisdom and Guidance -August 21, 2026
International Christian Host Coalition (ICHC) | Pastor’s Friday Prayer Call
As students return to school, artificial intelligence is becoming a familiar part of their learning environment. It can help them gather information, explore ideas, and produce polished writing. It can also give a convincing answer that needs to be questioned or make it tempting to submit work they did not truly do.
At its August 21 Pastor’s Friday Prayer Call, the International Christian Host Coalition (ICHC) focused on how the NOW GEN can navigate this changing environment with wisdom. The message was clear: we should neither fear AI nor give it authority over our thinking. We must guide its use with truth, self-control, and moral responsibility.
Scripture reminds us, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6). A tool can generate an answer, but it cannot develop a student’s character, accept responsibility for that answer, or replace the work of learning to think and solve problems. Students still need to understand and be accountable for anything they submit under their names.
That guidance takes a community. Parents, educators, and church leaders can help young people recognize when AI is useful, when its answers need to be checked, and when it is time to set it aside and do the thinking themselves. Clear expectations and practical safeguards can support honest learning as these tools continue to change.
ICHC calls for continued prayer for students and for everyone guiding them. May the NOW GEN grow in discernment, protect the integrity of their education, and have the courage to stand firm in truth. Our purpose in educating young people reaches beyond teaching them to operate new technology. We want them to become people of wisdom, character, and responsibility who can govern how they use it.
Let’s keep praying for the NOW GEN.
