Times of Refreshing: Encouraging the NOW GEN This School Year -August 28, 2026
International Christian Host Coalition (ICHC) | Friday Pastor’s Prayer Call
The start of a school year gives us another opportunity to reach out to young people with encouragement, prayer, and steady support. At its August 28 Friday Pastor’s Prayer Call, the International Christian Host Coalition (ICHC) focused on a prayer for the 2026 school season: that it would bring times of refreshing to the NOW GEN through renewed faith, courage, and connection.
The call reflected on Moses’ hesitation when God asked him to lead his people. Moses wondered whether he was the person for the task. God’s answer was a promise: “I will be with you” (Exodus 3:11–12). For ICHC, that promise is an invitation to act even when the needs of a new generation feel greater than any one person can meet.
Prayer is part of that response. So is showing up. ICHC calls on believers to seek out young people, build relationships across communities, share the good news of their faith, and help new believers grow as disciples. The goal is to nurture the character of Jesus in the next generation through both words and action.
As students return to school, ICHC continues to pray for students, teachers, and service workers. May students find guidance in God’s Word and choose wise companions. May the adults who support them have the strength to offer patience, care, and encouragement. And may those who feel afraid or discouraged remember the promise of Joshua 1:9: the Lord is with them wherever they go.
The 2026 school year is a chance for our communities to pray together and take an active part in the lives of young people. Let us welcome it with courage and a willingness to walk alongside the NOW GEN.
